I am moving the content from my University Futures site to my main business website at Thinking Futures where it will all be located in the Resources section. This will save me money and time, because I'll only have to maintain one site instead of two. Please come and visit the Thinking Futures site where you'll be able to continue to find resources to help you use futures approaches in your work.
The University Futures site will be closed down at the end of June 2008.

University Futures provides information and resources for educational managers and planners who want to know more about integrating futures approaches into their strategy development and planning processes.
The site focuses on university strategy and planning, but the future tools and resources are relevant for any educational institution or organisation seeking to strengthen understanding of its potential future operating environments and its possible futures.
University Futures operates as part of Thinking Futures, a collaborative futures practice that helps people to think long term and to use that thinking to build stronger strategy today.

Trends and Drivers
Coming soon - clear analysis of major trends and drivers likely to affect education into the future.
Will universities exist in another 100 years? 25% said yes, universities will always exist, 12% said yes, but they will be very different to 2007, and 12% said probably not, they are changing too slowly.
What methods does your organisation use to develop strategy? 89% said they use environmental scanning, 5% use trend analysis and 5% use visioning. No one said they used Delphi, scenarios or forecasting.
What drives you crazy about your strategy processes? 82% said the process took too long. Then there was a BIG gap to the next group: 7% who said there was little future vision, followed by 4% who thought the process developed meaningless plans, and 2% who believed their processes did use strong data or didn't involve enough people.
Does your strategic plan inform your day-to-day decision making? 96% said yes (and I'm pretty amazed at this figure, I have to say), while 4% said "what strategic plan"?
